iOS 8.3 Fixes Safari Keyboard Problem

That long standing issue with iOS keyboard in Safari, where users were accidentally hitting the Period key while attempting to hit Space, has finally been resolved by Apple. iOS 8.3 seems to have brought in that much needed fix, so head over the jump for further details on this news.

The whole Space vs. Period key issue is one that has been prevalent for quite some time now as complaints and bursts of frustration coming in from iOS users kept crowding up. The Go key had been sized ridiculously larger than it needed to be when in Safari, where most of the time as the user confidently sped away on the keyboard, each space key hit as it turned out, had actually hit the period key, “looking.something.close.to.this.”

While there were plenty of users out there who kept second guessing their typing skills, the fact that Apple actually made the move to address and rectify this issue, tells us that the problem in fact was very much there, and was not just a result of poor typing skills. With iOS 8.3, the Space key has been widened and that in-your-face blue colored Go button has been squeezed to the right, along with the Period button. So with more room to hit the Space key, your typing skills just sky rocketed.

Initially this change in the size of the keys was first reported in the beta 2 release of iOS 8.3, but with the release of beta 3, that change has been carried forward and is something that we can be confident of seeing in the final release of iOS 8.3.

Owners of iPhone 6 Plus, in particular, with their big 5.5-inch screen noticed that instead of extending the Space key on the extra display space of the phone, Apple lazily decided to increase the size of the Go button, thereby creating an influx of period littered searches in Safari.

iOS 8.3 beta 3 was made public on Thursday as a part of Apple’s public beta testing program, where it was for the first time that Apple released a beta version of iOS to both the developers, as well as the general public.
