Deus Ex: The Fall For iPhone And iPad Announced, First Gameplay Footage Revealed On Video

Deus Ex: Human revolution was arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated titles of the current generation, and it arrived to much fanfare including rave reviews from both gamers and the press alike. We loved Deus Ex ourselves, which is why we’re suitably giddy to hear that the game’s creators, Square Enix has today announced that it is bringing a new game to the iPhone and iPad – a game based on the Deus Ex franchise.

Titled Deus Ex: The Fall, the game will be available on both iPhone and iPad, though the company has not confirmed a release date beyond offering a particularly vague summer timeframe. One thing Square Enix has confirmed though is the price, with the title set to hit the App Store for $6.99 when it does land. A steep price, but considering that it’s a golden title, we’d be more than happy to stump out that much cash for it.

There have been next to no details released about the upcoming title beyond that, though the firm has seen fit to tease us with a brief insight into what the game’s story will entail.

Betrayed by your employers and on a mission to uncover the truth behind a drugs conspiracy, players control of the augmented ex-British SAS mercenary, Ben Saxon. This is the first mobile game in the series and events take place directly after the conclusion of the James Swallow novel, Deus Ex: Icarus Effect.

Deus Ex: The Fall is a unique story-driven action game, with all the characteristics that you’ve come to love from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, augmented for handheld devices.

Hopefully we will receive more information at the upcoming E3 event, and having watched the video accompanying Square Enix’s announcement blog post we can’t wait to get our hands on this thing. These days it takes quite a bit to get us excited about a new iOS game, but anything with the Square Enix logo on instantly gets our attention (Final Fantasy is a good example). Throw the Deux Ex name in there and we’re certainly keen to see what the finished product has to offer.

Time to dig our Xbox 360 copy of the earlier game out just to get us into the mood!
