Soon after the news which confirmed the official upgrade path of Windows Mobile 7 for HTC HD2, folks over at XDA have dug deep and found out some references made to Windows Mobile 7 in the latest HTC Sense 2.5 Build 1922. This version of HTC Sense is from the leaked version of T-Mobile US 2.01 ROM for HTC HD2.

Last month, we informed you about the possibility of HTC HD2 getting Windows Mobile 7 upgrade. But now according to a tweet posted by HTC’s Russian twitter account, it looks like HTC HD2 has been confirmed to get Windows Mobile 7 upgrade when it is released in Q3/Q4 of 2010. UK retailer Omio.com has published its list of “Top 10 Phones of 2009” in which HTC HD2 was unanimously chosen over Apple’s iPhone 3GS. This list was probably created on more day to day sales, and in demand basis of cell phones at the said retailer. The Android based HTC Hero grabbed the first spot, followed by HTC HD2 in second position and iPhone 3GS in third.

Folks over at XDA have extracted the Swype keyboard which is installed by default on Samsung Omnia II on Verizon. You can now use it with any Windows Mobile based WVGA device, including the HTC HD2.

We informed you about the new and upcoming T-Mobile US ROM for HTC HD2, which hinted towards a possible US release of the said device. And now it seems like the ROM has been leaked, and is available for download. Beware though as this ROM is for T-Mobile US only and it may have issues working properly with carriers outside United States.

The upcoming version 2.0.1 ROM for HTC HD2 has revealed, that HTC HD2 could finally be heading to the United States on T-Mobile in the first half of 2010. The files and folders dumped from .nbh file has definite references in the form of a folder named “TMOUS”, which points to a T-Mobile US version of the said device. HTC HD2 was released in Europe and Asia in October of this year for a retail price of approx. US $800 for the unlocked version.

Windows Mobile 7 Phones to Launch in Late 2010

Phil Moore, Head of Microsoft Mobile Division in UK has confirmed that phones with Windows Mobile 7 wont be available until late next year. He announced this in a Q&A session held at the ‘Connect’ technology summit in London. This news means that we are not going to see handsets with Windows Mobile 7 anytime before last quarter of 2010.
