Tesla has been working to try and reduce its reliance on third-party providers so as to allow it more control over components, where they come from, and how much they cost. It's a process that has been ongoing for years and it's also one that will be immediately familiar to fans of Apple — a company that continues to bring as many of its devices' key components under its wing.
