Ben Reid·April 8, 2013
Last year, Facebook left the tech world astonished by its acquirement of the Instagram app for an eye-watering $1 billion, and today, the rumor mill is abuzz with the revelation that Google could be next in like to snap up a billion-buck social app. WhatsApp Messenger, the cross-platform instant messaging app serving iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Phone, is a life-saver to those looking for a hassle-free mode of communication, and according to a new report, the search giant is very interested in buying it.

Clean Master For Android Cleans Caches, Residual Files And More To Free Up Space

Ben Reid·April 8, 2013
Every now and again, a little maintenance work on any computer, tablet or smartphone device is necessary to help keep it performing at the top of its game. For example, running an anti-virus, spyware or adware program every other month will certainly help you fend off some of the Web's non-niceties. But even so, you cannot expect optimum performance if your storage is almost completely maxed out, and Clean Master for Android is one of those infinitely useful apps which scans, locates, and eradicates any unnecessary bulk which may be slowing your device down. More details can be found right after the jump.

Espier Notifications: Get iPhone Notification Center, Status Bar, Banners / Alerts On Android

Ben Reid·April 7, 2013
A couple of days back, we showed you how Espier Screen Locker could make your Android smartphone's lock screen look just like an iPhone's, and following on from this, Espier has just released a beta version of an app to bring the iOS Notification Center to Google handsets. Not to everybody's taste, I might add, but from the company that also has a launcher offering the iOS home screen to those on Android, it seems Espier studios is on a mission to bring as much of iOS's UI over to Android as it possibly can.

How To Trigger SBSettings Actions Using Slide To Unlock Slider On iPhone

Ben Reid·April 7, 2013
SBSettings is, in my opinion, one of the best jailbreak tweaks on offer over at the Cydia Store. Through different revisions of iOS and on numerous devices, it has always been the very first tweak I have installed following a jailbreak, and when I am lucky enough to have it running on a jailbroken device, I’d say it saves me an average of ten minutes a day. Dragi, a new tweak over at the BigBoss repository, takes the power of SBSettings and its various toggles to the next level by allowing you to use the lock screen's slider to trigger custom actions.

Mailbird For Windows Is A Beautiful Gmail App Which Looks And Feels Like Sparrow

Ben Reid·April 7, 2013
iOS and Mac fans heavily lamented Google’s acquisition of the popular Sparrow app last year, for the first move made under the new ownership was to discontinue any further support for those particular versions of the app. Such was the height of the regard in which Sparrow was held that nowadays, near enough every new mail app is immediately compared with Sparrow. Thus, it would seem a matter of formality that we’d pit Mailbird, a new, Windows-only Gmail app, against the old favorite. But aside from the fact that email power users refer back to Sparrow as a matter of habit, Mailbird, which is currently in public beta, bears a number of striking similarities to an app which strongly influenced the way we deal emails in the modern day.

How To Get Right-Click Like Behavior On iPhone Home Screen With Bunch Of Useful Options

Ben Reid·April 6, 2013
Even with the jailbreak scene having thrived for a number of years, and many bases having been covered in terms of what Apple is missing by default, there's still plenty of scope for innovation. Every week, I am genuinely surprised by just how creative developers have been with ideas and execution, and a new tweak by the name of Icon Tool shows a great degree of invention. In essence, Icon Tool acts as something of a 'right click' for your home screen icons, providing a bunch of useful extras aside from the basic open/move/delete offered by Apple at stock level.

Apple Devices All Set To Outsell Windows For The First Time

Ben Reid·April 6, 2013
Smartphones and tablets have been touted on numerous occasions as "Post-PC" devices, and with most now offering the same levels of capability as desktops and notebooks, this assertion is perhaps an accurate one. Research firm Gartner's latest figures show just how pivotal these Post-PC devices have become within the tech industry, having estimated that in 2013, Apple devices will outsell their Windows counterparts for the very first time in history.
