Apple’s iPhone Duo Supports MagSafe Charging, But Not Wallets

Apple today announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but the iPhone Duo captured the show.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is here, and it is now confirmed that it supports MagSafe — even if Apple didn’t say as much during its unveiling.

While all other modern iPhones support MagSafe, it wasn’t clear that Apple’s first foldable device would follow suit. Now, specifications for the iPhone Duo posted by Apple confirms that it includes the technology required to support MagSafe wireless charging.

However, when it comes to using non-charging MagSafe accessories, there’s some bad news. On iPhone comparison page, Apple says that iPhone Duo is “compatible with MagSafe cases, wireless chargers, and more.” while for every other recent iPhone, including iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple says “compatible with MagSafe cases, wallets, wireless chargers, and more.” This is a huge bummer for those of us who relied on our MagSafe wallets since it was first made available with iPhone 12 series back in 2020.

This can be further confirmed by going to Apple’s accessories page for updated colors for MagSafe wallets, and under compatibility section, you will not see “iPhone Duo” listing, confirming that it just won’t fit properly on the back given the dimensions and camera plateau size on the iPhone Duo.

It’s a shame, really, as I personally has been a heavy MagSafe wallet user for the past decade.

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for the model with 256GB of storage with other capacities up to 2TB available. It’ll go up for preorder on October 16 and then go on sale on October 23. The new foldable will be available in two colors, Star White and a Night Sky.
