Apple’s iPadOS 17 Could Ship Alongside iOS 17 This Month

Apple has been beta testing iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 for months now with a vague release window of fall having been given to iPhone and iPad users around the world. Now, a new report claims that Apple might ship the pair at the same time rather than stagger them as was the case last year.

The iOS 16 update was released in September last year but the iPadOS 16 update didn’t arrive until late October with Apple struggling to make new features like Stage Manager work properly.

That isn’t likely to be the case this year however, with Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman saying that iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will both get their last betas soon, adding that they are expected to be the last betas for both releases.

That means that we can likely expect both releases to the public to happen at the same time, likely not too long after the September 12 event that is expected to see the debut of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups.

As for when those betas will arrive, we can expect Apple to release those to developers this week to allow time for any bugs to be squashed should they appear.

Apple will of course need to get iOS 17 ready to ship preinstalled on the new iPhones, so expectations are that we will see the beta within the next day or so.
