Apple Watch May Get Its Own Dedicated Retail Stores

Thanks to the fanfare that coincided with the launch of the iPhone 6, we already have a pretty good idea as to what to expect from the Apple Watch. Early response has been positive, not only from experts in the watch industry, but from technology enthusiasts as well, and while it’s too early to cast aspersions, it does seem as though we’re on the cusp of a game-changer

Amid reports that specialized Watch booths are being set up across Paris, 9to5Mac has been informed that Apple is open to the idea of launching dedicated retail outlets for its new smartwatch, and should it become as ubiquitous as the iPhone, it’s a decision that could make a great deal of sense.

Apparently, Apple is to gauge the demand of its wearable before arriving at a decision, but should the device prove popular, those Mac booths you see at stores like Best Buy could soon be accompanied by dedicated retail stands for Apple Watch. Presumably, experts would be present in order to sell to and advise prospective consumers, and with industry insiders touting strong sales, this is a plan that Apple may have to call upon.

As per Tim Cook’s words at last month’s earnings call, the device will be shipping from April, and the necessary iOS 8.2 software update is currently being prepped behind the scenes. The last we heard, iOS 8.2 download would be arriving at some point next month, and with a handful of betas under its belt, it seems that Apple has everything under control.

Android Wear may have a large number of manufacturers backing it, but Apple does appear to have something special here, and since it will be compatible with the iPhone 5 and up, it’s not, as some feared, excluding those who don’t happen to own the most up-to-date handset.

Whether dedicated outlets / booths will be necessary remains to be seen, but where Apple Watch is competing in a market that already offers a multitude of different varieties, the 30+ different configurations of the impending device means that there’s something for everyone.

As aforementioned, Apple Watch should be here by April, and the Cupertino company will surely accompany the launch with a ceremonial event. As soon as the details of said keynote come to light, we’ll have it all covered here, so stay tuned!
