Sports fans can look forward to Saturday, May 23, when Apple TV will stream a live Major League Soccer match that will be captured exclusively on an iPhone 17 Pro.
This is the first time that an iPhone has been used to capture a live major professional sporting broadcast.

Apple announced the news via a post to its Newsroom website, confirming that the milestone broadcast will cover the LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo FC, streaming live on Apple TV from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
It’ll be the final weekend of the MLS regular season before it pauses for the FIFA World Cup.
Apple says that there will be multiple iPhones used to capture footage, including “dynamic new perspectives”.

iPhone 17 Pro will capture live footage throughout the match, including team warmups on the pitch, player introductions, in-net goal angles, and the atmosphere inside the stadium. With cameras positioned throughout the venue, the broadcast will deliver the pristine video quality fans expect, alongside dynamic new perspectives that bring viewers closer to the action, made possible by the small form factor of iPhone.
MLS and iPhone fans should tune in to Apple TV at 7:30 p.m. PT on May 23 to see what the iPhone 17 Pro can do. MLS coverage is available to Apple TV subscribers across more than 100 countries at no additional charge.
