Apple To Release iPhone 7s And iPhone 7s Plus Next Year Instead Of iPhone 8?

Apple is planning to release iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus in 2017 instead of iPhone 8, the lineup will also come in new red color, according to the latest round of rumors.

If the report is to be believed, the said smartphones will somewhat and surprisingly be released under the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus branding, and would likely see the same aesthetic design as current-gen iPhone mixed with a revamped set of internals to ensure that it can compete with other modern devices that will be on offer at the same time.

The latest report is in direct contrast to a number of other reports that we’ve already been privy to, most of which suggest that Apple plans to completely redesign the iPhone next year.

If accurate, this latest take on the situation means that Apple could continue with the current design of the iPhone 7, but make some internal changes to ensure that it is fit for the market. Those changes would ultimately involve introducing Apple’s A11 processor as a direct speed and performance improvement, as well as replacing a number of additional components alongside the SoC. Additionally, as mentioned earlier, the report also tips about Apple introducing a new red color option.

Previous reports on the subject had speculated that Apple would look to introduce three new models next year under iPhone 8 branding. Those reports had pointed to Apple overhauling the whole range with an all-new, all-glass design, as well as bringing onboard a 5.8-inch device that would act as the flagship for the next year’s iPhone.

It’s likely that this rumored 7s range will also have three models to choose from, but if this latest report is accurate, then it looks as though the larger 5.8-inch device could be the differentiator, with the ‘iPhone 7s’ and iPhone 7s Plus’ appealing to those consumers who don’t want to part with the top dollar.

The interesting thing about this conflicting report is that it looks as though the 7s and 7s Plus would be built with the same aluminum design, utilizing the exact same screen technology. If that’s the case, then the larger device could be the only iPhone with OLED display technology integrated, and built on top of an all-glass design that would take the iPhone to the next level.

Of course, given the fact that we are still approximately 9 months away from release, there’s still time for a ton more rumors to surface on this one.
