Apple yesterday announced the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, making it the first touchscreen Mac along the way.
Now, the company appears to have hinted that it won’t be the end of its macOS touchscreen upgrades.

That’s according to a quote that says Apple “is only getting started” making macOS touch-safe, with more iterations in the works despite early reports suggesting that the current touch implementation is surprisingly strong.
Writing for Bloomberg, Chris Welch says that more refinements to Apple’s touchscreen experience should be expected.
An Apple employee answering press questions at Wednesday’s event said the company is only getting started optimizing macOS for a touch screen. I’d expect a slew of refinements to arrive alongside macOS 28 next year, much in the way the iPhone Duo’s user experience will inevitably evolve with iOS 28.
Apple appears to have been keen to ensure that adding touch capabilities to the Mac won’t change the way macOS looks and feels. A video posted to the Apple Developer YouTube channel details how apps can be updated with touchscreens in mind, but many will work as they are without any wholesale changes needed.
The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display is available for preorder today and will officially go on sale on November 6. Both 14- and 16-inch versions are available.
