Apple Confirms iPhone Duo Display Cracking Issue In Memo To Its Retail Stores

Apple’s iPhone Duo has a reputation for its internal foldable display failing, and while it’s unclear how widespread the issue is, Apple has now addressed it.

In a memo sent to its retail stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers, it provided guidance on what should be done if a customer returns a device with a broken display.

MacRumors reports that the memo confirms the issue, adding that it only affects a “small number of iPhone Duo units.”

However, the fact that a memo has been sent out at all might suggest that the issue is more widespread than Apple might have people believe.

If a customer reports the issue, Apple advised technicians to inspect the iPhone Duo and repair or replace it in accordance with their standard procedures. While the instructions themselves are straightforward, the fact that Apple issued an internal memo suggests the issue is widespread enough to warrant official guidance.

However, it’s important to note that there is no iPhone Duo recall here, and there are no doubt plenty of unaffected iPhones are being used daily.

The iPhone Duo officially went on sale on October 23, and anyone ordering a new one online today will have to wait until January 2027 for delivery. While we don’t know how many iPhone Duo units have been sold, it would appear that Apple cannot currently keep up with retail demand for its first foldable iPhone.
