Apple Announces New Home Collection Smart Accessories With LG And Schneider

Apple has today announced the Apple Home Collection, a new lineup of smart home accessories in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes a smart thermostat, smart video doorbell, smart cameras, a thermostat, and a smart door lock.

All of these new accessories work with Apple’s Home app and HomeKit system, as you’d expect, including support for Siri and hands-free operation.

Home Monitoring

The LG Video Doorbell includes two cameras, one for capturing people, the other for identifying parcels. Pressing the doorbell triggers an alert on a connected HomeView or HomePod.

LG Floodlight Cam and Outdoor Cam are two security cameras, the former of which includes a light.

Motion detection is also present, with Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video supported. LG’s Indoor Cam is designed to be used indoors and can automatically tilt up and down to adjust the view.

Home Access

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock includes a keypad for secure entry, while tapping an iPhone or an Apple Watch will also unlock the door. A hidden key slot is also available for emergencies.

Home Climate

Apple also announced two new smart thermostats, one from LG Electronics and one from Schneider Electric.

Smart features include using iPhones to adjust the temperature based on who is home, with Clean Energy Guidance also available to ensure the best use of power.
