You Can Try Out The Apple Watch Online Right Now, Here’s How

We don’t know precisely when, but Apple Watch is certainly en route to market, and having been treated to an extensive preview alongside the iPhone 6’s launch back in September, many prospective owners of Apple’s first major wearable will be keen to test it out. If the innovative, circular interface has piqued your interest and you cannot wait to give it a try firsthand, then a new interactive demo will allow you to do so online.

The smartwatch market is currently establishing itself, with a spate of vendors having already placed their faith in Google’s Android Wear platform, but there was always a looming feeling that the wider tech community was waiting for Apple to show its hand. By announcing a product nowhere near ready for prime time, the Mac maker has ensured that many would-be smartwatch dabblers instead wait for Apple Watch to emerge, and whilst we continue to keep an eye out for solid launch details, one developer has cooked up the preview to trump all previews.

The online demo, which is up and live, lets interested parties try out the Apple Watch interface, launch apps, and generally get a feel for what’s going on. The majority of the apps are simply images, so don’t go expecting anything too engaging, and if you’re looking for something a little more involved, you’ll have to wait for the real thing to arrive.

The app’s developer is also the author of Pipes for iOS, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Pipes is among the apps offered as part of the preview. It’s a pretty good promotional stunt, to be fair, and the general intrigue and anticipation surrounding Apple Watch should also help to drum up usership as far as the application is concerned.

When Apple made its big announcement back in September, it was the UI, perhaps more so than the hardware, that really impressed onlookers, and with Apple Watch varieties ranging from the entry level $299 to the Watch Edition range comprised of rose gold and other fanciful, expensive materials, it seems as though Tim Cook and his team have covered all bases.
