Vevo Revamps Its tvOS App For Apple TV 4, Here Are The Details

The announcement of the Apple TV 4 brought with it the App Store’s first appearance on the big screen, and the aim of doing that was to give developers and services a chance to create first-rate experiences for their customers, whether they be video streaming apps or something altogether different. Music video service Vevo already had a app on Apple TV’s App Store since the set-top box and tvOS App Store’s debut last fall, but that app wasn’t much different to the HTML-based app found on 3rd-gen Apple TVs. Today, Vevo has released a refreshed version of their app which is truly native to tvOS platform. It’s available as a free update right now.

Specifically designed for the native Apple TV experience, Vevo’s revamped app for Apple TV features over 150,000 music videos in high-definition. The biggest addition in the new app is the ability to let users sync their videos and playlists across Vevo’s mobile, desktop and tvOS apps. Users can also search for specific content or check out the Spotlight section, which is a personally curated way of surfacing music videos that users may otherwise have missed. Said section instantly autoplays a constant stream of videos that match user’s interests, offering for a quick and painless way to get their music fix without having to manually put together a playlist.

“Artists and audiences deserve great music video experiences, whether on mobile devices or connected TVs,” said Erik Huggers, CEO, Vevo. “The launch of our new Apple TV app represents an important milestone for Vevo. We continue to invest in what we believe is the premium platform for music videos and related original content.”

Fans of Vevo can download the updated tvOS version of the app on their Apple TV right now. It is available as a free update to the old app. If you’re a user of Vevo service on iOS and desktop, and happen to have the latest Apple TV in your entertainment system, then checking Vevo’s revamped tvOS app with all the sync features is a bit of a no-brainer.
