This iPhone 7 Concept Features A Never Before Seen Edge-to-Edge Display [Images]

With the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, all those concept designs that fueled the excitement ensued by the anticipation of a new device pretty much right after the iPhone 5 and 5s were released, have somehow been over ambitious – well at least by Apple’s standards. Martin Hajek, the guy who earlier released rendered images of what the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 may look like following the iPhone 6 design language before the two were launched, has just released his rendition of the next awaited handset from Cupertino, the iPhone 7.

Not to take credit away from Apple, the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus is a daring change from all that we’ve seen before and Hugo Barra did call it the most beautiful smartphone ever built, and with the increased screen sizes, a job well done. Some of us though do still feel Apple could have done better, especially with the radio bands at the back, which isn’t exactly a deal breaker.

Hajek shows us what the future may hold for iPhone users with his scintillating design. He has actually kept it quite simple this time around, but has pretty much hit the bull’s-eye with what most users expect future smartphones to be like. However a design can be pretty but it will be a huge flop if not practical.

The concept images show the new iPhone 7 as a device which pretty much retains the shell of the iPhone 6 / 6 Plus, but now sports a display that extends to the edges – all 4 sides – wrapping around the Touch ID Home button and the front speaker grill. Simply fascinating! I would love Apple to pull off a free-form display, but given what we know about the existing mobile panels, this may seem like a pipe dream. However Hajek takes our attention to development on free-form displays already in the works at Sharp.

It may look like reaching corners might be tricky given the large screens, but it will be really neat in the sense that this could allow Apple to increase screen size while cutting down on the size of the body.

Hajek throws in another rendition, one that is rather unassuming but one that can’t be ruled out as a possibility in the coming year or two. That is an iPhone with extremely narrow edges, and an improved body-to-screen ratio.

Earlier, Steel Drake released images of what is his take on an iPhone 8 which is to be the future of smartphones as they evolve.
