FaceTime for iPad is probably one of the most missed features by the iPhone/iPod users. It certainly would have been a better experience if the iPad offered a front-facing camera and FaceTime. That because of the user-experience that the 10" screen provides over the the iPhone's 3.5".
Steve Ballmer did not announce much about upcoming Windows Phone 7 updates at CES this year, except for demoing cut-copy-paste. However, according to Neowin.net, a key Windows Phone 7 employee has revealed some information to them on where the platform was heading. One of the features that were discussed was that Microsoft was working on a FaceTime competitor for Windows Phone 7.
Skype app for iOS has received a significant update today which enables video calling from the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G and iPad client to virtually any Skype account in the world. You can now make iPhone to iPhone video calls, as well as iPhone to PC / Mac and vice versa.
It looks like Skype is soon going to bring video calling to iPhone and iPod touch. In a help document (pulled now) published on the official Skype site, details were posted about making video calling from Skype for iPhone app to the Skype clients running on other platforms such as Windows and Mac.
This is just a little heads up to our earlier story about enabling FaceTime on jailbroken iPhone 3GS. The folks over at iPhoneIslam have released FaceIt which can enable FaceTime calling option on iPhone 3GS.

Yahoo Messenger for iOS has been updated to version 2.0.1 which brings video calling support for iPod touch 4G. For some odd reason, this feature was previously limited to iPhone 4 users only.
FaceTime has just been announced at “Back to the Mac” event. It’s only coming for OS X though. So there will only be iPod touch 4G to iPhone 4 to OS X-based devices based.
