SwiftKey Note For iOS Released, Brings Famed Text Prediction Keyboard To iPhone / iPad [VIDEO]

Last week, we brought you the news that SwiftKey was sort of coming to iOS in the form of a note-taking app, and today, it’s officially available to download. Because of Apple’s stingy API, developers of core apps like SwiftKey Keyboard cannot get into the guts of iOS and deliver a true replacement key-tapping experience, but for those seeking a more efficient way to make notes on their iOS device, SwiftKey Note can now be grabbed from the iOS App Store. Details after the break!

Tim Cook’s influence as CEO of Apple has greatly affected the way the company does business. He seems a lot more open to new ideas than his predecessor, the late Steve Jobs, and has even suggested in the past that developers could be given more access to iOS at some point, provided it wasn’t to the detriment of the user experience.

But for now, if you want to change features like the keyboard, you cannot at stock level, which greatly hinders the work of companies like SwiftKey. Revered among the best in the business, many Android users (including this one) swear by it, but for the time being, those on iOS wanting something similar will have to make do with SwiftKey Note.

It brings that familiarly tailored note-taking experience that you will have come to expect from SwiftKey, including various formatting options, and notably, it’s magical ability to predict what you’re going to say. The app’s uncanny knack for effortlessly learning how you structure your notes means that you can often type entire sentences using one tap per word, and for a time-saving, generally pleasurable typing experience, you could do a lot worse than to pick up SwiftKey Note.

It’s probably worth reiterating that despite Apple’s policies, there are certain ways to change the iOS keyboard across the entire operating system, but they do, naturally, require a jailbreak. A couple of days back, we looked at a tweak called PredictiveKeyboard, which, while not quite as powerful as SwiftKey on Android, offers quite a few useful features that greatly improve upon the native typing experience, so if you’re looking for something a bit more integrated, check it out.

The app is free of charge, and requires iOS 6 or newer.
