“Stick It!” Lets You Listen To YouTube Music Videos (Almost) In Background On Android Smartphones/Tablets

unnamed

From Android Market:

Stick it! is the only video player of its kind : it can live on top of your screen, above any of your other applications and allow you to use your device’s other features (browsing, emailing, texting...) while watching your favorite movie! Impress your friends with the MultiView™ feature !

Stick it! works on both smartphones and tablets but we suggest you only try it out if you have a tablet because of the abundant screen space offered by them. When you start a video from your local drive, it shows up in the form of a small window on top of whichever app you’re in. For YouTube video, you have to open the YouTube app, tap the share button on your video of choice and send the video to Stick it!

Users have the ability to adjust the window’s size and move it around the screen so they can actually use other apps without Stick it! interfering.

Unlike most Android apps we cover here at Redmond Pie, Stick it! is a pay-only app. It costs $1.92 and can be purchased/downloaded from the link embedded below.

One of the most popular uses of YouTube, especially in countries with strong anti-piracy, is to listen to music. Yes, music videos are loaded in a browser tab while the computer user does what computer users do: surf the internet, check email etc. etc.

On smartphones, there really is no way to listen to already-loaded music videos. This is mostly because smartphones today cannot work with multiple active-on-display apps at a time and partially due to YouTube’s guidelines which state that you cannot listen to videos you aren’t watching.

There are ways around this, of course. For iOS, we discussed a very simple loop-hole that would let you play YouTube audio in background but for Android, we came across an app today that lets you listen to music videos without the YouTube video completely in foreground. Check it out after the jump!
