Springtomize 3 For iOS 8 / 8.1 Teased, Gets A Release ETA [Screenshot]

As with the race to get App Store apps updated for iOS 8, jailbreak developers are also still working to get their tweaks ready for the new mobile operating system. Again, just like App Store developers, some have been quicker to get updates out than others and that’s not always through a lack of effort. Some tweaks just need some work to get right.

Take Springtomize as an example. Developing a tweak that can hook into the OS and fiddle around with the springboard to the Nth degree can’t be a simple affair, so when developer Filippo Bigarella took to Twitter earlier to announce that Springtomize 3 for iOS 8 was just a few days away, we all got rather excited.

That excitement grew when Bigarella shared a screenshot of his tweak running on iOS 8, along with some important pricing information. Those that are already owners of Springtomize will be able to upgrade to the new iOS 8 version for free, which will come as a relief to many. Pricing for new users hasn’t been made clear yet, but the current version retails at $2.99 in Cydia so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the iOS 8 version of Sprintomize 3 follow suit. Given what Springtomize can do, that’s a small price to pay.

Springtomize has been around in various guises for years now, and gives tweakers the ability to play around with all kinds of aspects of the iOS springboard. The most iconic is the feature that allows the dock icons to be manipulated as per Bigarella’s earlier screenshot, but that really us just the tip of the iceberg.

If you’re a jailbreaker and like to alter how your iOS devices look then you’re probably already a Springtomize user and will be getting the update for free. If you’re not, well, let’s just say there are worse ways to spend the price of a cup of coffee.
