The iPhone Duo will go up for preorder at the end of this week before going on sale on October 23.
Now, a new report claims that anyone who buys Apple’s first foldable iPhone at an Apple Store in the United States will be able to add their name to its boot-up sequence.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, those buying in person will have the option to customize the way the iPhone Duo powers on.
Turning it on for the first time will see the iPhone Duo greet the owner by name. This will only be available on the iPhone Duo, and buyers will have the option of Spanish and English.
Fun little touch for the iPhone Duo launch: Apple retail stores will have a system to customize the boot of the device with the buyer’s name so it says “Hello, Mark” (for example) when it turns on for the first time. (US only, Duo only, English and Spanish).

It’s currently unclear how Apple will apply this option to the iPhone Duo, and whether it will cause the purchasing process to be prolonged when compared to other iPhones. It’s also unclear whether Apple may use the iPhone Duo as a test run and then roll the feature out to other iPhones in the future.
