Sidefari Adds iOS 9 Split View To Safari, Use Two Browser Windows Side-By-Side

Developers are constantly looking for a way to take newly introduced features within iOS and turn them into something that will have mass appeal via the App Store. Given the fact that Apple’s App Store is entirely saturated with applications, it is vital to have something that not only utilizes new technologies within the platform, but something that also genuinely offers lasting appeal to users. A new app meant for the iPad, essentially brings a Safari browser companion that makes interesting use of Apple’s iOS 9 Split View capabilities.

As popular as Split View is within iOS 9, some feel that it lacks power in the fact that it doesn’t allow multiple instances of the same application, such as Safari, to be placed side-by-side,. Step forward the recently released Sidefari. By combining the power of the iOS 9 Split View functionality and the availability of Apple’s SafariViewController, the developer behind this particular application has produced an app that allows two Safari windows to be browsed simultaneously. Utilizing the power of iOS 9 and the iPad to provide a dual browsing experience, side-by-side.

The introduction of new multi-tasking features, in particular Split View within iOS 9 that allows two applications to be on the screen at the same time on the iPad was undoubtedly something that owners had been waiting for. Being able to have the native Mail app open alongside an instance of Safari allows a user to be even more productive than before. With the introduction of the iPad Pro – which is predominantly aimed at enterprise and education – Apple is keen to push iOS and the iPad as the supreme combination for those who crave productivity.

Sidefari also ships with a few additional offerings that make its $0.99 price tag seem like a bargain. Not only is the app built on the SafariViewController, but it’s also optimized for multitasking by default. The developer has also had the foresight to include an Action Extension to open URLs directly in Sidefari. There’s a History option to quickly view previously browsed websites, as well as the ability to edit that history with ease.

The app is available for $0.99 from the iOS App Store and is compatible with the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and the new iPad Pro.
