Samsung Galaxy NotePro And TabPro Tablets Announced With Gigantic 12.2-Inch Displays

TabPro NotePro 12

Starting with the Galaxy TabPro, buyers will be able to pick the machine up in 8.4-inch, 10.1-inch and 12.2-inch flavors and all three will come complete with a 2560x1600 display. There's no need to worry about whether these will be any good for reading your comic books on, that's for sure.

The S Pen compatible Galaxy NotePro will only be available in 12.2-inch guise, again featuring that eye-pleasing 2560x1600 pixel screen that the TabPro sports. All four tablets take aesthetic cues from the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, with the faux leather look very much Samsung's favorite look. We're still not entirely sold on the idea, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt until we at least see these new tablets ourselves. We'll apparently be able to pick them up later this quarter, though no pricing has been announced for any of the new devices.

There's fake leather on the outside, but what about the inside? Well, you'll find Android 4.4 KitKat skinned with Samsung's new Magazine UX that looks rather like Windows 8.1. The new multitasking bent sees Samsung touting its new tablets' ability to run multiple apps side-by-side to aid cross-app working, and more than one instance of the same app can be used at once, too. Hardware-wise you're looking at quad-core chips and more memory than you know what to do with across the board, which will come in useful with all this multitasking that we'll apparently be doing.

Samsung apparently believes that its new tablets can fill the gap between current slates and laptops - a gap that, if we're honest, we didn't even know existed until Samsung just told us about it.

What did Steve Jobs say about people not knowing what they want until it's shown to them?

CES is officially now in top gear and we can say that with supreme confidence now that we’ve had the obligatory onslaught of new tablets. What we perhaps didn’t quite expect though was that so many of those new slate machines would happen to all have the same manufacturer’s logo on the back. Introducing Samsung’s four (4!) new tablets.

Very much playing on the Pro moniker, Samsung’s new tablets fall under the Galaxy TabPro and Galaxy NotePro names, with both supposedly being more multitasking and productivity-focused versions of the Note and Tab slates that we already have on the market. And perhaps with good reason.
