Samsung Does It Again, Brings iPhone 6s-Like Rose Gold Color To Galaxy Note 5

Sometimes the old joke of Samsung copying Apple gets a little too old and bothersome, but sometimes, just sometimes, the joke is actually true.

A prime example would be the newly announced colors that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 will be available in come October 23rd, at least in South Korea. While one of the colors, Silver Titanium may not raise too many eyebrows, it’s the second new color that will get all the attention. If you can feign surprise for a moment please – the Galaxy Note 5 is getting a Pink Gold color. Or Rose Gold, if you like.

Just weeks after Apple brought Rose Gold to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Samsung has announced that it too will be offering a gold smartphone of the more gold-pink variety. Samsung is calling it Pink Gold. Even if Samsung’s decision isn’t a direct response to Apple’s new color offering, it’s going to be perceived as if it is.

Not too long ago, the idea of a Rose Gold smartphone would have filled us with dread, but as Apple’s newest iPhones have shown, people want options beyond the more traditional yellow gold now.  Samsung will offer the exact same color option for its high-end Galaxy Note 5 come the end of the month, though only in South Korea. At this point, we don’t have any confirmation that the Pink Gold Galaxy Note 5 will ever see the light of day in the United States, but we wouldn’t want to bet against it.

Samsung is already rumoured to be bringing a 3D Touch-like feature to its Galaxy S7 next year, so expect the claims of Samsung copying Apple to keep making the rounds for a little while yet.
