Pokemon Go App For iPhone And iPad Updated, Here’s What Is New

Pokémon Go has literally taken the world of mobile gaming by storm as it tops the Android and iOS app charts on the respective app stores. With users increasing as we speak, and the title being the hot topic of discussion on the Internet, the update released just now for iOS couldn’t have come at a better time!

This latest update seems to have alleviated bugs, crashes and some security that were a cause of frustration for a host of users who simply couldn’t come to terms with abandoning the game as an option, given how addictive it can be, especially for Pokémon fans.

If you happen to have Pokémon Go already installed on your iPhone or iPad, the update is live right now on the App Store, and is a free download. It appears that the Android version has not been updated as yet, but you can be sure that it will follow soon.

Breaking down the update, Niantic seems to have heard the outrage amongst users concerning how the company chose to access a user’s Google account as part of the registration process for the game. On hindsight it would appear that the game simply uses the account to authenticate the user, but on closer inspection it turned out that doing so allowed Niantic complete access to a user’s Google account. This has been rectified in the latest update.

Apart from this security concern, there were issues where the app would randomly crash – a problem popularly attributed to the server side of things as the number of connection hitting Niantic’s servers sky rocketed unprecedentedly. Whatever the real cause was, the developer tells us this problem has been fixed as well.

Similarly, there were complaints of forced log outs, where users would have to enter their account credentials again and again. While the forced logouts don’t appear to have been fixed, users will not be required to enter their account credentials again and again at least.

Go to the App Store now and update the app to get all the latest fixes!
