We've made it our mission to get intricate with most of the powerful and interesting tweaks that land on Cydia. Some of them may not be to our tastes, and some of them may not offer the functionality that we would necessarily make use of, but each user is different and the old saying of "one man's trash is another man's treasure" definitely springs to mind when talking about jailbreak tweaks. We have also made it our mission to stay away from jailbreak orientated themes unless they are truly exceptional and make Apple's iOS a genuinely more attractive and elegant place to be. I guess that must mean that the Carla theme for jailbroken iOS devices is one of those stand out creations that makes the grade.
A short while ago, we learned that Microsoft's annual BUILD developer conference would be held this year on June 26th, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Further to that report, TheVerge has learned that the Redmond company will use the event as a platform to release a Public Preview of the next release of Windows, codenamed Windows Blue. Citing “sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans", the report also adds that work on the preview version is already underway, and will be available to download in much the same way the Windows 8 Developer, Consumer, and Release Previews were dropped at numerous intervals last year.
Last Summer, Electronic Arts announced Battlefield 4, and with the special event for the title having just been held, the company has released an incredible 17 minutes of in-game footage. It features plenty of combat, a preview of some of the weaponry, and stunning visuals offering a timely reminder of why gaming fans are looking forward to the next installment of the legendary first-person shooter franchise. The title is set to release this fall for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and running on the Frostbite 3 engine, will evidently deliver a cutting-edge gaming experience. Social magazine app Flipboard for iOS has been dealt a very healthy update today, with the marquee feature being the ability for users to create their very own, personalized digital magazines. Never shying away from beauty, Flipboard has long since been in a league of its own when it comes to ease-of-use and interface, and this rather significant update only cements its reputation as the best in the digital magazine business. As well as being able to edit your own magazine, which you can either share or keep locked away for private reading, there are a host of practical UI alterations, rendering navigation just that little bit better.

One of the ongoing battles faced by smartphone and tablet vendors, particularly when attempting to bump the specs up a generation, is maintaining a relatively strong battery life. Squeezing better hardware into the same (or an even smaller) package places an incredible amount of strain on the juice-o-meter, and while the major companies have managed relatively well thus far, there are always those occasions where we wish the battery retention was just a little bit greater. The icon badges currently gracing iOS certainly aren't to everybody's taste, and serve perhaps as a stark reminder of just how in need of updating the notifications system within Apple's mobile software is. Nevertheless, for what they're meant to do, they do a decent job, and whilst we're stuck with them, iOS developer merdok has come through with a tweak offering a bunch of different customization options. Every year, Microsoft holds its BUILD conference, which aims to give developers an insight as to what the company has in store with regards to its major software products. While not necessarily limited to Windows, the Redmond company's OS is a significant talking point, and with speculation already in full force with regards to what changes Microsoft is looking to make to Windows moving forward, the software maker has announced that this year's BUILD conference will commence from June 26th this year. The Samsung Galaxy S4 mightn't yet be gracing the smartphone arena, but that doesn't mean its presence cannot be felt. In fact, it's fair to say that, aside from the iPhone, the Galaxy S4 is easily the most anticipated device to be releasing in 2013, and thanks to a ROM dump being drip-fed by different sources, we're beginning to get a real good look at what's contained within the device's firmware. Along with the earlier leak of S Voice, we're now being treated to some of the beautiful, native HD wallpapers within the 1080p handset.
