Google is always looking to update and improve its Android operating system, and while often, these changes can take the form of significant enhancements, the Big G also likes to make subtle adjustments that enhance the user interface. Just last week, a leaked screenshot gave us a potential insight into some icon adjustments set to arrive with the much talked-about Android 4.5, and now, the official Google Nexus Twitter handle has accidentally leaked a modified, bluer Dialer app.

Swapping out the gray coloring for a brighter, bolder hue certainly works well, as you can see from the screenshot revealed by the @GoogleNexus Twitter feed, and although some may prefer the current, understated approach, we think the updated look is change for the better.

It’s hard to determine precisely when Google plans to push an update featuring this new Dialer app, and moreover, what the labeling of said release will be. Speculation surrounding the so-called “Android 4.5” has been rife of late, and with the I/O developers conference fast approaching, the rumors are unlikely to slow down any time soon.

As you will notice, not a great deal has been altered with the new Dialer, save the action bar and background image, and even though these minor UI adjustments are usually thrown in by Google for sake of differentiation between versions of Android, it does appear as though the next major release will include a number of key design modifications.

Whatever Google does have up its sleeve, we’ll find out more at I/O, which will be held at the end of June and serve as the last major dev conference of 2014 after Microsoft and Apple. The raffle for tickets was held only last week, and with the lucky winners having just been announced, we can now focus our attention firmly on what’ll be showcased by Google.

As well as a couple of significant new features and some adjustments to the UI, Android fans will also be hoping that the general fluidity is given a bump. Over the past couple of years, particularly since the introduction of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, users have been able to enjoy a lag-free experience on Android, and even though ‘Project Butter’ has been a resounding success, let’s hope it’s an ongoing process.
