Mr Download Is A Fully-Featured Safari Download Manager For iOS

If you have a jailbreak pedigree and loved the fantastic Safari Download Manager, then you’re seriously going to want to take more than a quick peek at Mr Download on the iOS App Store. The app, which made its way onto the App Store toward the close of 2015, is a full featured download manager that enables file downloads directly to your device from within Safari. The developers have also bundled in support for downloading from additional apps as well.

The appeal of Mr Download can predominantly be found in the integrated download manager. Users of the app can expect to experience “super fast downloading” which comes with a provided progress bar and speed indicator for real-time reporting of the download itself. There’s also a pretty handy little feature that allows failed or canceled downloads to be resumed rather than having to start from the beginning. The download manager also has the ability to handle multiple download instances at once for efficiency.

As with most popular apps these days, there’s also integrated cloud support for storing any of the downloaded files. When the app has gone about its business and completed the download process, the files can be stored to Dropbox, iCloud, or even Google Drive for convenience. The cloud integration also extends to background support for upload and downloading of content. Files can even be opened in other installed third-party apps thanks to a number of “document provider extensions”.

The fact that the app allows downloads through Safari via the integrated Safari extension makes the $1.99 price tag worth it alone. However, the integrated cloud support for multiple providers, along with the various app extensions for opening of content means that this is a bargain at that price for those who need that level of functionality.

The iTunes metadata does come with a small warning, advising that Mr Download does not have the ability to download copyrighted material, so if you fancied this as an option to download YouTube videos for offline use, then you’re probably best saving your $1.99.

Mr Download is a universal app meaning that it supports both the iPhone and the iPad running iOS 8.0 or above.
