MOGA Ace Power iOS 7 Game Controller Officially Announced: Here Are The Details

After a duo of leaks and speculation, MOGA’s Ace Power iOS 7 game controller has now been officially announced, making it the first game controller for iOS 7 to be officially available for purchase. We’ve got more details right after the jump.

If you weren’t entirely convinced that Apple’s mobile operating system could live up to the competition in the mobile gaming world then now is the time to change that mindset. The announcement and introduction of the Controller API during this year’s WWDC was a lot more important than some seem to think, and it all but confirmed the Cupertino company’s intention to revolutionize smartphone and tablet based gaming. It’s entirely possible that Apple has a long-term plan in mind that could eventually include an SDK for the Apple TV, but until that happens we now have our first publicly available iOS 7 game controller.

The MOGA Ace Power iOS 7 game controller has been teased for quite some time and manages to instantly show the potential of what Apple and their hardware partners are trying to achieve. The MOGA Ace Power brings everything that you would expect from a controller of this nature and will offer compatibility with iOS 7 compatible devices that have a Lightning connector port. For those that aren’t familiar with the iPhone and iPod touch range, the compatible devices with the Ace Power are: iPhone 5, the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 5c and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

The MOGA Ace Power itself features a very familiar form factor and immediately brings back memories of handheld devices of yesteryear such as SEGA’s rather chunky Game Gear. The controller comes equipped with the usual action buttons that will be used to perform specific actions within the game, dual-analog sticks located on the right and left of the Ace Power, a multi-directional d-pad and L1/L2 R1/R2 buttons at the top of the unit. MOGA has also built-in a 3.5mm headphone jack to allow us to slot some earphones in to keep things entirely private when in public.

A number of additional companies are in the process of producing similar hardware to be used with games on iOS 7, but MOGA will undoubtedly benefit from hitting the market first.

MOGA will be offering the Ace Power through their own website (www.mogaanywhere.com) as well as Apple’s online store for $99. The controller will be available tomorrow.
