Letterpress For iOS Updated To v1.1, Brings Rematch Feature Along With Performance Enhancements

Letterpress

It is a test of word knowledge per se, but it's also about how you capitalize on the shortcomings of your opponent. If your adversary played ACCORDING, for example, you may spot an L and a Y and play ACCORDINGLY. This is good Letterpressing, since not only do you score yourself a healthy nine points, but you are potentially stealing seven from your opponent.

The update was much-needed, as having engaged in some real battles, the lack of a rematch feature meant scouring Game Center to try and find the person, adding them as a friend, waiting for them to accept, and then starting a new game. With Game Center still not being particularly functional, it's good to see the ability to rematch thrown in.

Not only is Letterpress insanely-addictive, but it's also very easy on the eye. The sounds are crisp and subtle, the look is extremely clean, and the theming options mean you can spice things up of you grow a little tired of your current color scheme.

You can grab the update below.

Towards the end of last month, we introduced Letterpress – a fun and addictive puzzler invented by the same development team behind popular Twitter app Tweetie. Since then, we’ve become completely engrossed, and every single member of the Redmond Pie team has joined in. Now, Letterpress has been updated to version 1.1, and as well as a bunch of bug fixes, there’s also a new rematch feature.

If you missed the initial report, Letterpress is not too dissimilar to Scramble with friends, in that you have a square grid of letters and are looking to make the best words you possibly can. However, when you do make a word, those tiles turn your color, you receive a point, and if you manage to collect all the surrounding tiles of one particular tile, it will turn an even darker color. Those of a normal color (or neutral), can be stolen by the opposite player, but the darker ones can not until at least one of the surrounding tiles is stolen by your opponent.
