iPhone Duo Can Add Fake Bezels When You Use A Case

Apple’s newly announced iPhone Duo doesn’t go on sale for a few weeks yet, but a new report notes that it has the ability to add fake bezels to its display when owners use a case with their new foldable phone.

9to5Mac reports that blogger Nicholas Lellouche found settings in the iPhone Duo’s software that will be useful for fans of cases.

Called Shift Left Edge, the feature adds a new black border to the left side of the display, pushing on-screen content away from that edge.

In the description for the setting, Apple says that it “moves content when you are using a case that partially covers the left edge of the outer display of your iPhone.”

The blogger was able to capture the setting in a video. Enabling it appears to effectively double the width of the bezel on the left side of the iPhone Duo’s display, but it’s as-yet unclear why the feature has been added or which cases are likely to require it to be used.

It’s still very early days for the iPhone Duo, a device that won’t go on sale until the end of October and very few people have spent any real hands-on time with. We can expect to learn more as we get closer to the device going on sale as more people use it.
