iPhone 17 Pro And iPhone Air Charging Issue Reported by Users

Some early users of Apple’s latest iPhones, including the iPhone 17 Pro and the new iPhone Air, are reporting a strange charging issue.

The problem shows up when the phone completely runs out of battery. Normally, when you plug in a dead iPhone, you’ll see a red battery icon after a few seconds. But in these cases, the screen stays black and the device doesn’t seem to respond at all.

This issue was first highlighted by a report from 9to5Mac, and more users have shared similar experiences on platforms like Reddit and iFixit Answers. It doesn’t appear to affect everyone, but it’s happening often enough to raise concerns.

Interestingly, some users found a workaround. Instead of using a regular USB-C cable, placing the phone on a MagSafe charger and waiting around 10 to 15 minutes seems to bring it back to life. After that, the device starts charging normally again.

What’s more frustrating is that the issue doesn’t seem to be fixed in the latest updates, including iOS 26.4.1 and iOS 26.4.2. Apple hasn’t officially commented on the problem yet, so it’s still unclear what’s causing it.

For now, if your iPhone 17 suddenly won’t turn on after dying, don’t panic. Give it some time or try a wireless charger. A proper fix will likely come in a future software update.
