Instagram Releases New ‘Layout’ iPhone App For Creating Photo Collages [Download]

Since being taken over by Facebook, Instagram has rolled out its fair share of updates, and today, has launched an all-new, separate app for iOS. Layouts is essentially a collage app, letting you combine multiple snaps into one post, and thanks to its existence, Instagram believes you won’t need to be trawling the App Store for such features anymore.

Where most collage apps allow you to add multiple snaps to one shot, they do usually force you to include borders separating each photo, which, for some, is a bit of an eyesore. With Layouts, one can pool together photos in a more seamless fashion, with the lack of gaps making for a finished product that looks arguably better.

As you pick and choose your photos in Layouts, you get automatic previews of the custom layouts, and with the Faces option, you can condense the Camera Roll search to photos featuring people only.

You can tweak the size of each photo to suit your requirements, and as you can see from the screenshots, the end product is rather neat. For a first run, Layouts is a pretty solid application, and with the Photo Booth feature letting you capture sequential shots to share in a layout, it’s clearly designed to pique the interest of the selfie-loving Digital Age.

At this moment in time, Layouts is only available for those on iPhone, so if you’re rocking an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, touch, then you can snap it up via the link below. An Android version is in the pipeline, although unfortunately, with an ETA of “in the coming months” according to Instagram’s official blog, it’s difficult to gauge when exactly this will be.

Layouts for iPhone is completely free of charge, and if you’re a fan of photo collages, be sure to give it a download. We’ll keep you updated on any progress concerning the Android edition, meanwhile, and when it does finally make its way to the Google Play Store, we’ll give you guys the heads up.
