Here’s What Some Popular iOS Apps May Look Like Post-iOS 7 Release [IMAGES]

The reason for that is the fact that all these great iOS developers now need to redesign their apps to support Apple's new direction. The people behind some gorgeous iOS apps will now be able to perhaps do some things that they couldn't quite do before, and that excites us tremendously.

To give an idea of just what could be on offer when some big apps get updated, one Tumblr has cropped up with some screenshots showing where apps like Instagram may go post-iOS 7. Check out the images below and drool all you want, and you have to admit, the apps following the iOS 7 design direction indeed look awesome!

Instagram is indeed one of the apps to have received this virtual update, and we have to say we like it. The Twitter and Skype examples look great to us also, though they do drive home just how Windows Phone-y iOS 7 and its apps can look. It may be the solid colors, or it may be the simple lack of that third dimension, but there's a certain quality that we just can't quote put our fingers on.

Regardless of that, we have to say we can't wait to see what some of our favorite apps will look like when those developers get their hands dirty.

Apple’s big move away from textures and 3D effects is well documented, and it feels like iOS 7 has dominated the news cycle for some time now. From rumor to a real shipping beta, the changes in visual design and user experience is something that has seen much discussion. While there’s no doubt that Jony Ive’s vision is very different to that of Scott Forstall’s, it remains to be seen where the App Store’s mass of developers will take their own apps once iOS 7 is closer to release.

With a much flatter interface than previously on offer from Apple’s iOS, this seventh iteration it quickly growing on those testing the beta releases, but if there’s one thing that is jarring it’s opening some of the third party apps we use. After years of building apps that fit in with the existing iOS look and feel, the big changes in iOS 7 leave these legacy apps looking dated, and it’s something that has us oddly excited.
