Eclipse 2 Dark Mode Theme Enabler Released With Full Support For iOS 8 / 8.1

The jailbreak scene is there for one thing, and one thing only and that’s to open iOS up to possibilities that Apple can’t or simply won’t. Over the years there has been plenty of things fall into both categories, and while some have eventually found their way into future releases of iOS, some are still absent.

There’s one feature that a lot of people would love to see come to iOS and as tends to be the way with these things, it revolves around modification of the way Apple’s mobile operating system looks. Customization has long been at the heart of jailbreaking, and being able to change the color of various aspects of iOS is at its core.

One jailbreak tweak that’s made that possible in the past is Eclipse, and the newly updated version 2.0 brings with it support for iOS 8 so that those using the latest version of Apple’s mobile software can do what jailbreakers do best – fiddle to their heart’s content.

Available as a free update for existing users and just $0.99 for those buying afresh, Eclipse 2.0 lets users customize the appearance of iOS in order to get things like a true dark mode that turns all of the previously bright white elements into something a little more subdued. Other colors can be chosen too, so your iPhone or iPad can be made to look as lovely or as gaudy as you like.

We’re quite happy with the way iOS 8 looks as it is, but we too must admit to wishing for a dark mode every once in a while. We don’t think it’s enough to make us jailbreak on its own, but if you’re already on the dark side and want a dark mode to go with it, then Eclipse 2 is for you.

You can download Eclipse from the BigBoss repo for a price of just $0.99.
