Color Comparison: Space Gray iPhone 5S And Black & Slate iPhone 5 [Photo Gallery]

As you can see in the images, the front of the device remains unchanged, except for the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which doubles up as the Home button. It looks rather elegant I must say, and blends in well with the rest of the device’s front. Looking at the device in low light conditions really makes the front of the device have a unique personality of its own, and the same goes when in outdoor, brightly lit environment.

It starts around the aluminum antenna having a new shade of gray, which Apple is marketing as ‘Space Gray’. The new color has a sense of solidness and endurance, and you can tell it will be able to survive day to day pocket transfers without getting a ding or two, unlike the ‘Black & Slate’ on iPhone 5.

Turning the device over, you get the same Space Gray coloration all over the back, with the new iSight camera sitting at the top left hand side of the device, accompanied with the new dual-LED flash.

At the bottom, you get the Lightning port, speaker grill, headphone jack and the microphone. Nothing has changed here, same goes for the sides of the device as well. It features the same antenna cuts, minus the new color.

While the change in color maybe very small in theory, but in real life, it is very noticeable.

At the time of my iPhone 5s purchase, I was really confused which color I should go for. Gold was hard to find, Silver isn’t really my thing, and Space Gray I thought would look exactly similar to the Black & Slate iPhone 5 that I already had for over a year. But when I unboxed my Space Gray iPhone 5, I was surprised at how different and appealing the new gray shade was.

Here, I have taken a few photos of Space Gray iPhone 5s with the Black & Slate iPhone 5 side by side to give you a fair idea of the change in shade.
