Mac OS X has been run on non-Apple computers before, but today we’ll show you a pretty impressive new port a developer has reported on tonymacx86. He has been able run OS X Lion 10.7.2 on his Samsung Series 7 Slate, or as he calls it now: HacPro Touch. The catch is that an external monitor such as a TV is needed to run Lion successfully.

I go to Starbucks pretty often, I’m a big fan of their iPhone app that allows me to pay for my coffee by having the barista scan a code on my screen. The process is quick and easy and I have fun earning stars and checking the balance of all my gift cards. By next year, a scan-less method will be more popular and available with more merchants and on more phones.

Turns out there an iTunes Dock setting for the Mac, hidden deep inside the new Lion OS. Once activated, the Dock will produce a pop-up notification of which iTunes track is currently playing. Although you can program Growl, a useful little utility, to show similar notifications, you may prefer having the native one found in Lion.

Apple rolled out yet another update to the Apple TV firmware. Many have asked if you could jailbreak the Apple device with the new 4.4.3 update. The short answer is yes. The long answer is that while you can jailbreak it, some of the optional apps used with a jailbroken Apple TV won’t work. The movie server, Plex, as well as Rowmote are not supported yet.
