Apple’s Launching iPhone 17 Pro In September, Here’s What to Expect

If everything goes the way that we expect it to, Apple will announce the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max next month, and with them, a raft of new features and upgrades.

There is likely to be plenty for new buyers to look forward to from the 2025 round of hardware refreshes, even if coming from the current iPhone 16 Pro.

Apple is yet to confirm the upgrades, but here’s what we’ve come to expect based on the last year of rumors.

A new camera bump

Leaks have clearly shown that the Pro iPhones will get a new rectangular camera bump that will cover the whole width of the device.

Camera boosts

If the rumors are true, the iPhone 17 Pro will ditch the previous 12-megapixel selfie camera and replace it with a 24-megapixel part. A new 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 8x optical zoom is also thought to be on the way. It’s also thought that the front and rear cameras will be accessible for video recording at the same time.

New colors

Apple always refreshes its colors from one year to the next, and this year is no different. An Orange color is expected to be added, while Dark Blue is also in the cards.

Battery life upgrade

Buyers can expect improved battery life, particularly when they choose the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It’ll be slightly thicker than its predecessor, which means more room for battery.

A new aluminum design

The rumors so far suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro will ditch titanium in favor of aluminum this time around.

Anti-reflective display

Apple’s displays always look great, but rumors suggest that a new anti-reflective matte display is on the horizon, but details are yet unclear.

RAM and CPU upgrades

The new Pro models are expected to get an upgraded chip in the form of the A19 Pro, while 12GB of RAM will also be used. The current iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models have just 8GB.

A new cooling system

Apple is reportedly ready to bring a new vapor chamber cooling system to the entire iPhone 17 lineup to keep them cooler during operation.

Redesigned Dynamic Island

While the Dynamic Island is still relatively new, rumors point to a tweak with the iPhone 17 Pro. Expect a slightly smaller one if those rumors turn out to be accurate.
