Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max Crowned The Battery Life King Among 35 Devices Tested

Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max has been crowned the king of battery life following tests which included no fewer than 35 different devices.

CNET carried out the testing after it concluded that battery life was a key consideration for smartphone buyers. With that in mind, the outlet collected 35 phones to see which would come out on top.

The tests included running a three-hour video battery test, running the streaming video with the display at 100% brightness, and starting with a full battery. The result saw Apple take the top few places, with even the budget-oriented iPhone 16e proving to be a winner for the battery conscious.

In CNET’s 45-minute endurance test, during which we play games, stream videos, scroll social media and take a video call with the battery starting at 100%, the iPhone 17 Pro Max was again at the very top and joined behind by three other Apple models, including the iPhone 16E, which starts at $599.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max has a large battery, but it isn’t the biggest we’ve seen in a smartphone. Instead, it’s likely the A19 Pro chip’s power efficiency that saw Apple’s biggest iPhone win out.

The iPhone 17 was in second place, followed by the OnePlus 15 in third. The Poco F7 Ultra, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the 2025 Motorola Edge rounded out the top five devices.
