Apple has released a new firmware update for the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery, but there is no information yet on what the new update does.
The new version of the firmware carries the version number 101.0 and build number 8B32. This replaces the previous version 99 firmware, which itself had the build number 8B25.

You can check the version of your battery’s firmware by attaching it to your iPhone Air and looking in the Settings app under General > About.
The lack of information surrounding this new firmware update is unhelpful, but not unusual. Apple doesn’t routinely share release notes for iPhone Air MagSafe Battery firmware updates, so there is no telling whether the update is to tweak something or address any issues.
The iPhone Air MagSafe Battery receives its updates automatically when the accessory is being used and is currently charged. There is currently no way to kickstart an update, however. If your battery is yet to be updated, all you can do is wait — the update will be automatically installed eventually.

Apple’s MagSafe battery is designed to work with the iPhone Air alone, and is the company’s attempt at dealing with buyer fears that the iPhone Air’s battery life may be sub-par. It’s an optional accessory, but one that buyers may wish to pick up if they find their iPhone Air lacking in the battery life department.
