Immersive Sports Come To Apple Vision Pro With Live Lakers NBA Games

Apple Vision Pro owners will soon be able to enjoy live immersive sports content for the first time, although only a “selection” of live LA Lakers NBA games will be shown.

The Apple Immersive Video format allows content to be filmed in high resolution and in a way that makes it appear to be a real, 3D world when viewed on an Apple Vision Pro spatial computing headset.

The Verge reports that Apple’s announcement claims that “Vision Pro users will be able to feel the intensity of each game as if they were courtside, with perspectives that are impossible to capture in traditional broadcasts.”

The first Lakers game that will be shown in the Apple Immersive format will be available in early 2026 via the NBA app and the new Spectrum SportsNet app. More details on which games will be included, and when they will take place, will be shared later this fall.

Those looking to take in a Lakers game in Apple Immersive video will need to have an Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 26 or later.

Apple continues to be rumored to be working on a new version of the headset, although it remains to be seen whether it will be released before or after these Lakers games air.
