Apple has today released for download iOS 26.5 beta 1 to developers, giving them their first look at what the update will entail and what it will mean for their apps.
The new update comes soon after the release of iOS 26.4 to the public, and can now be downloaded by registered developers.

It’s unclear whether the update will also be made available to those on the public beta program, but it’s likely. If so, look for the update to be available within the coming days.
It’s currently too early to know for sure what Apple has changed in iOS 26.5, but the update is a sizeable one. It comes in at just shy of 8.6GB for the iPhone 17 Pro, suggesting that there is plenty going on under the hood even if the update is lacking any big new features.
It’s hoped that this update will bring some upgraded Siri capabilities, but that’s currently unconfirmed. Apple announced a refreshed, more capable Siri in 20204 but then delayed it. Apple signed a deal with Google to use its Gemini AI model to boost Siri’s abilities, but it’s yet to bear fruit for users.
Apple is also expected to announce iOS 27 at the WWDC event in June, with much bigger changes expected from that release. The update will then undergo a months-long beta program before being released to the public this fall.
