Xiaomi Mi TV 2S Is A 48-Inch 4K Crazy Thin Smart TV That Costs Just $485

Xiaomi may be best known for the high-end, low-budget phones that it produces, but the company is also responsible for a plethora of additional electronic products. Today the Beijing headquartered company has revealed yet another mouthwatering product to add to its growing lineup; a super-thin 4K TV that measures in at just 9.9mm thick.

The company’s new Mi TV 2S comes wrapped in a stunning 48-inch frame that looks almost unbelievable from the sides due to it measuring just 9.9mm in thickness. When you actually get past the staggering engineering levels needed to produce something of this thickness then you immediately notice the 4K Samsung made lossless quality panel that is accompanied by one of Xiaomi’s own LED backlight components. What’s more remarkable is the marketed quality of the panel when you take into account the price-tag applied to the set.

In addition to coming equipped with a stunning display, the Mi TV 2S also ships running the latest version of Android, which is Lollipop. Behind the panel Xiaomi has packed in a quad-core processor equipped with 2GB of RAM. It’s easy to think that you’d either have to choose form or function with a TV set like this, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here. The Mi TV 2S comes with enough power and functionality to keep users happy, but is also available with a range of color options to adorn the outer metal shell of the unit.

Here’s the best part; Xiaomi’s super-thin new 4K TV will only cost $485, or $645 if consumers opt to purchase the accompanying sound bar speaker. The Mi TV 2S will be available to purchase later this month, July 28 to be precise, within the Chinese market with no announced plans to distribute beyond that at the moment. Great news for the budget conscious in China, but not so great for the rest of us who are still forced to pay above the odds for quality of this nature.

It seems Xiaomi is in a giving mood this month with the additional announcement of a smart water purifier that attaches to an existing sink and can provide alerts directly to a registered mobile phone if things go wrong. A super-thin 4K TV and a smart water purifier that utilizes reverse osmosis, what more could the Chinese market want?
