Valve, the company behind the hugely popular Steam PC gaming store, has announced two new platforms to join its existing Steam Deck portable machine.
The Steam Machine is a new console-like device that is designed to sit under a TV in an entertainment console, but can also be used as a Linux-powered PC.

It’s six times more powerful than the existing Steam Deck, so should offer improved graphics and performance. Anecdotally, it’s reported as being around the same performance level as a PlayStation 5.
In terms of specs, the Steam Machine is powered by an AMD Zen 4 chip with six cores. That’s paired with a AMD GPU and 16GB of RAM – with another 8GB made available to the GPU. There will be two capacities on offer; the entry-level model comes with 512GB of storage while another 2TB model is available for those who need extra space.
The Steam Machine also comes with a new Steam Controller. The new controller has TMR sticks to avoid drift and includes touchpad areas similar to those found on the Steam Deck.
Fans of VR games will notice the arrival of the Steam Frame, replacing Valve’s existing VR headset. It comes with dual 2160 x 2160 LCD panels with 144Hz refresh rates, one for each eye. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and has 16GB of RAM. 256GB and 1TB storage options will be available.
We know that all of the new hardware will be released in 2026, but Valve is keeping the price to itself for now.
