This Epic iPhone Case Glows With Incoming Notifications [VIDEO]

There are so many different types of iPhone case out there that once you’ve come to a decision regarding what color and storage configuration of device you wish to purchase, only then does the dilemma truly begin. But while we’ve seen and reviewed a handful of mundane cases and shells here, the Lunecase, touted by its creators as the “the first intelligent iPhone cover,” is well and truly something to behold.

Like most cases, it clips onto the back of your iPhone, protecting the rear and sides from the everyday scratches and scrapes that it’s subjected to. But while it may look and feel like your run-of-the-mill snap-on case, it actually features a glowing notifications panel on the back, which, when your device is face-down, lets you know whether you have an incoming call or text. But that’s not even the good bit.

Unlike other cases featuring lighting effects, the Lunecase doesn’t use a battery, nor does it connect to your device’s Lightning port in order to siphon off droplets of juice from the iPhone’s internal battery pack. Instead, it picks up electromagnetic energy emitted naturally from your device for its power, which seems a rather ingenious way of recycling otherwise wasted energy and turning it into something useful.

The glowing notification on the back of the device can also differentiate between the waves of calls and texts, notifying you accordingly, and so if you’re the kind to keep your phone face-down, on silent, on your desk, then the Lunecase is ideal.

I absolutely love how the Lunecase is completely self-sufficient, and even though it’s currently just a project on Kickstarter, I can’t foresee the creators struggling to raise the $50,000 required to bring this marvel to market. Interested parties pledging a minimum of $29 can score themselves an early bird special on the case, which will begin shipping in August, and given that the retail price will be around the $50 mark, you can yield a decent saving as well as a warm fuzzy feeling of satisfaction having supported the product.

So, if you want to help the Lunecase see the light of day, check the video out below, and be sure to head over to the project’s official Kickstarter page!
