This Accessory Transforms Any Watch Into A Smartwatch [Video]

The connected accessory seamlessly links with a smartphone via Bluetooth LE to provide real-time alerts on incoming calls and physical location of a device. It also comes equipped with motion control and activity tracking abilities to satisfy the needs of the health conscious smartphone owner.

The kit itself is extremely thin, lightweight and manufactured from machined aluminum to offer a stylish but robust aesthetic. The wearable will ship with a custom made leather wrist band to support and keep the Glance in place, but one of the overpowering benefits of the products is that it has been designed to be held in place by any existing wrist based wearables.

The high contrast OLED display is minimal but accompanied by a multicolor LED integration that uses different colors for different feedback types. It's also testament to the design that the 3D motion sensor is beautifully hidden away in the stylish aluminum housing.

Glance seems to be an attempt by Kiwi Wearables to get involved in the intelligent wrist wear market with a product that has some chance of standing out from the increasingly populated crowd.

The hardware currently works seamlessly with native iOS and Android apps and even comes with the ability to control a Smart TV or computer. Stretch goals are currently in place to bring about native BlackBerry and Windows Phone apps, but the campaign will need to hit its initial target before that can happen.

The evolution of the brilliant Pebble wrist wear has been nothing short of remarkable since its hugely successful Kickstarter campaign. Companies like LG and Samsung have also taken the time to try and take advantage of the flourishing industry by showing off their own products before the much-speculated "iWatch" from Apple hits the shelves. These intelligent time pieces are all well and good, but can sometimes be a little bit overkill for the needs of some users. If that is the situation you find yourself in then the Glance Kickstarter campaign by Kiwi Wearables is definitely worth a look.

The company behind the Kickstarter campaign officially describe Glance as a "smart accessory" that comes packed with a number of appealing features without the overhead and bloat that comes attached with a full-blown smartwatch. That doesn’t mean that the Glance gizmo doesn’t offer a plethora of powerful features.
