If you’re waiting for Apple to announce the iPhone 17 Pro so you can upgrade, you might need more money than you expected. That’s following the news that Apple intends to start the new model at $1,049.
However, the good news is that Apple looks set to justify the price increase by doubling the base storage from 128GB to 256GB.

This is according to Chinese leaker Instant Digital who took to their Weibo post to share the news. This same account has a history of correctly predicting Apple news, although it’s still important to take this news with a pinch of salt.
The current iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB model, so this price increase looks set to see customers spend $50 more. It isn’t yet clear what we should expect to happen with the larger capacities in terms of price, but there could also be an increase across the tiers as well.
Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models this coming September, so in a matter of weeks. We can expect more leaks as we get closer to the big unveiling, too.
Alongside the new iPhones, we expect that Apple will also take the wraps off at least one new Apple Watch while new AirPods are also a possibility.
