The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to be just one of the new phones to be announced next month, but it might have just leaked in a whole new way.
New images shared by leaker yeux1122 on the Naver blog platform and picked up by MacRumors. The post claims that the images show the internals of an iPhone 17 Pro Max handset, but it’s unclear whether they are what they claim to be.

If the leak is indeed genuine, it means that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a new, metal-covered battery as had previously been rumored. There will also be two different designs, MacRumors points out, depending on whether the iPhone has a SIM card or not.
There will apparently be two versions of the battery, with the L-shaped one in the image below to be used in iPhone 17 Pro models that still have a physical SIM card tray. The battery is expected to be more rectangular in iPhone 17 Pro models that lack a physical SIM card tray, such as those sold in the United States.
It’s likely that Apple has added the metal battery cover to shield the battery from heat while helping it dissipate as much as possible. Helping to keep the iPhone cool will be important, given some of the heat issues that previous models have had to deal with.

If everything goes the way we expect, the iPhones will be unveiled and released around the middle of September alongside at least two new Apple Watches.
