Apple’s iPhone 4 was a pretty great smartphone, and a huge upgrade over the iPhone 3GS that came before it. But it wasn’t without its problems, especially one that caused calls to drop if you held it wrong.
Apple held a press event about the whole thing, and now a new video of a Q&A session has surfaced online.

The issue, dubbed Antennagate, came about because the iPhone 4’s antenna was on the outside of the iPhone for the first time. That meant that when users held it a certain way, they could cause the iPhone 4 to drop calls. It was a huge deal, so much so that Apple eventually gave all iPhone 4 owners a free bumper case to prevent the issue from occurring.
Apple held a press conference about the situation, going so far as to drag then-CEO Steve Jobs from a family vacation to be present. The press conference was available to watch online, but the Q&A with members of the press that followed, wasn’t. Until now.
The video has now been shared online for all to watch via YouTube. It shows Jobs, flanked by then-chief operating officer Tim Cook and Bob Mansfield, Apple’s SVP of Mac Hardware Engineering. It’s worth a watch, if only to fill in the gaps from what was quite a turbulent time for Apple and the iPhone.
