The First Foldable iPhone Could Cost A Whopping $2,400

Apple is arguably the last big-name phonemaker not to have entered to foldable smartphone market. That’s expected to change in 2026, but a new report suggests that few people will actually be able to buy it thanks to a $2,400 asking price.

That’s the price that Arthur Liao of Fubon Research believes Apple will have to charge the phone. That closely matches the $2,200 to $2,500 price that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously came up with. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s $2,000 estimate continues to seem overly optimistic.

The foldable iPhone was always likely to be an expensive purchase. To that point, foldable phones from Google and Samsung are the company’s most premium products.

Add the fact that Apple is rumored to be using a particularly premium design for the foldable iPhone and it’s easy to see where a huge asking price could come from.

One area that Apple is thought to be pushing the boat out is the foldable display and hinge — the company is thought to be keen on reducing the display’s crease as much as possible. The use of a dual-camera setup on the rear of the foldable iPhone is also likely to help bump the cost up, too.

It’s thought that Apple will announce its first foldable iPhone in the fall of 2026, likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
